Make Poverty History Transcript

This transcript was taken from the Make Poverty History DVD that was given away with the Herald Sun.

Kav: Anyone who listens to our songs can actually take what they need out of them, to come from them and find strength in what they want to do. The main message is not about people buying a whole lot of tickets and that money being given to someone. The whole idea is to start an awareness and the fact that for the first time in history, our generation has the potential to actually end poverty. Kav: They call it the Millenium Development goals and there is a structure in place. Its about people being aware and focusing on the fact that we've got this list of things and we've gotta keep these people on the job and that's what we're trying to do. For the first time in history, our generation has the potential to actually end poverty.

Joel: People kick up a fuss if petrol prices go up or taxes go up and the government responds accordingly.

Stu: We're just asking the actual people as a whole to mske sure that the world leaders are gonne stick to these goals that they've come up with.

Kav: The main message is 'Public opinion becomes policy'.

Stu: Yes, definitely.

Joel: Good call.

Stu: A lot of the time people spend more on their national debt that they're actually getting paid.
